It’s official! Jaguar has finally announced that there will be a new, more powerful version of the XKR to be revealed next week at the Geneva Auto Show.

Jaguar is looking to create competition for the the Audi A5 Sportback and BMW 5-Series GT with a new five door coupe.  Codenamed the RD7, it will replace the current X-Type in Jaguar’s lineup of vehicles.

The Land Rover Defender, which many call the workhorse of the Land Rover brand, appears to be on it’s last years.  The popular vehicle appears to be getting a replacement by 2012 despite it still getting excellent sales worldwide.
