Car Opinions – Fix the potholes or build our roads the right way

I pay the government for this. God Bless America!

In this day in age where we have tons of trained engineers, experienced workers, and miles of road, why have we not solved the one problem that pisses almost every driver out there?  We can build oversized buildings to last for decades, but we can’t solve this problem.  You should know what i’m talking about.  You probably drove through one or dodged it on your way to work or home today.  If not, then I want to live where you are.  It’s potholes, and they drive me up the damn wall.

So why can’t we design a road that doesn’t have these problems?  Well, it’s because our government is a bunch of cheap asses.  They have a set design for these roads that is guaranteed to turn to the surface of a high schoolers face within a year.  It’s expensive to build roads properly, guaranteed.  However the taxpayers spend just as much money fixing them up every year that it ends up adding to the amount to build them right in the first place.  A good example of a well built road is the Autobahn in Germany.  Because of the well build design of the road and the thickness of the concrete, they NEVER get potholes and never get bumps.  So, why is this a problem in the U.S.?

As for fixing the roads, that is a joke.  The governments response for fixing roads is to have some old schmuck in a orange vest taking shovel full’s of loose asphalt and filling them in.  Does any one realize how useless that is?  Especially when you live in a snowy climate where all the plow trucks do is rip them back up while trying to clear the roads off (which they do a half-assed job at as well).

In my opinion, the government should be responsible of any damages or any vehicles as a result of the negligence of keeping the taxpayers roads up to spec.  A good example of this was from a friend of mine last year.  Was driving through a town at night, and drove through a pothole.  It ruined a whole wheel and tire due to this (see his picture below).  Not his fault and definitely should not have happened.  If you tried to go to the government about it, they would basically tell you to go to hell.

My only aspirations in life is to the see the speed limit abolished on highways and to have well built roads.  Nothing would make me happier than to see this.  However, with the ass clowns we have in our government that is as crooked as Libya, and lazy as France, it will never happen.  Welcome to the United States of America I guess………… I need to move.
