Dodge Hornet Concept
Chrysler and Nissan announced that they are canceling their 2008 deals to build vehicles for each other. The automakers announced this on Wednesday afternoon.
The deal was that Chrysler was to provide Nissan with a full-sized truck, similar to the Dodge Ram, and was to replace the Nissan Titan in 2010. In turn, Nissan was to give Chrysler a compact vehicle which was to be called the Dodge Hornet, which was supposed to be available in 2010. Nissan was also to give Chrysler a sedan to sell in South America this year.
The deals were originally announced in January and April of 2008. Chrysler has since then gone through bankruptcy and is now owned by Fiat. The companies have both agees that it was in their best interests to cancel the deal. The truck and compact-car agreements had been on hold since February.
