The upcoming Volkswagen Golf R will also be available in a turbocharged GTI-R.
After revealing the new Golf R at last month’s Frankfurt Auto Show, Volkswagen announced that they will be coming out with a new variant of this new vehicle called the GTI-R, which is to replace the old R32 that was discontinued.
The GTI-R will come with a 2.0L turbocharged 4-cylinder engine, which although it is 2 cylinders short of the original R32, it will still produce an amazing 265hp to all four wheels, making it the fastest production Golf ever made.
Other options available with the GTI-R will be a standard manual transmission which will allow you to do 0-60 ub 5.7 seconds, or VW’s DSG semi-automatic transmission which will do the same in 5.5 seconds. The top speed will be limited to 155mph with a fuel economy of 27.6mpg.
The new GTI-R will hit U.S. dealerships sometime next year. No pricing is available yet.
