What other vehicles will Toyota put hybrid technology in?
Over the last year, Toyota has been throwing around the idea of expanding their line of hybrid vehicles. Recently it was announced that this will be happening as soon as 2012, and will be using the Prius name more as a brand of vehicles rather than a specific name for one of their cars.
Announced in Las Vegas at a meeting of Toyota and Lexus dealers from across the U.S., sources have said that executives were very careful to point out the Prius range of vehicles won’t be a full-fledged brand like Lexus or Scion, but will be a subset of vehicles within Toyota. It remains to be seen which vehicles will be developed, but it is expected that a coupe and pickup truck would be the likely choice.
Back in November, 2008 there was discussion of Toyota developing two new vehicles. One was a coupe version of the Prius, and then a concept version of the A-BAT pickup truck. Currently there is no time frame set on when this will happen, but it’s been indicated that Toyota would be looking at a 2012 target date.
