2010 Nissan Altima, one of the vehicles being recalled.
Nissan has announced that they are recalling 26,398 2009 and 2010 models of the Maxima and Altima sedans. The recall is due to a potentially faulty suspension component.
According to the NHTSA, the recall is due to a potentially faulty upper front strut insulator. The strut insulator could crack, allowing the strut rod to come out of position. If this occurs, the vehicle stability could be affected and can potentially increase the risk of a crash.
Nissan dealers will replace both right and left front strut insulator on effected vehicles starting on October 5th. No accident or injuries have been linked to the recall.

The only time you are required to return to the dealer is for warranty repairs and recalls. Even then, you may have those repairs done at any repair facility, but the vehicle manufacturer will not cover the cost.
