2009 Nissan Murano is on of the vehicles recalled.
Nissan announced that they will be recalling around 143,000 Nissan and Infiniti products with model years between 2008 and 2009. This is due in part to a tire pressure monitor system that could fail if large amounts of road salt are used during the winter months.
The replacement will be a nut which holds the monitoring system to the sensor transmitter. It can deteriorate over time due to the corrosives in road salt. If the unit fails, the monitoring system light will illuminate. Although the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said that drivers can ignore the light if their tires are not flat, they mentioned that with the sensor not working it would not be able to warn drivers about a possible issue.
The recalled vehicles are as follows:
- 2008 Nissan Rogue
- 2009 Nissan Murano
- 2009 Nissan Cube
- 2008 – 2010 Infiniti M35
- 2008 – 2010 Infiniti M45
The recall will cover vehicles that are driven in the northern 20 states and the District of Columbia, although it will be made available to owners in other states that do not use large amounts of road salt. The automaker will be notifying customers on November 9.
