Yet another vehicle has leaked out on the internet before it can be revealed at the Frankfurt Auto Show.  This time from Mazda with their new MX-5 Superlight.  This new car basically takes the original two seater into a lightweight speedster for the track.

Mazda has really gone out of their way to reduce weight.  This includes the removal of the windshield and the retractable roof.  Other things are comforts such as the sound deadening materials, carpeting, radio and air conditioning (which considering you won’t have a windshield to being with defeats the purpose of staying cool or hearing the radio).  It also has carbon fiber racing seats as well to keep things nice and light.

The one major disappointment that appears to be heard is the power.  It only has a 126 HP 1.6L engine which will accelerate from 0-62 in 8.9 seconds.  The speed is only due to the 2,194 pound curb weight.

Unfortunately it is not known if this will even make it to production, or what the base price for one of these will be.  More information should be available in the next couple of weeks.
