Honda will be closing European design studio at the end of the month.
Honda is no exception to the bad global economy, and one of it’s offices has fallen victim to it. Their design studio, which is located just outside Frankfurt, Germany, will be shutting down at the end of the month.
The Offenbach R&D center, which designs Honda’s cars and motorcycles. Even though it is closing, it will continue normal operations until then.
“This is a regrettable structure change due to the current economic picture,” said Honda spokesman Christophe Rust. “The German design activities will be discontinued with effect from the end of November”.
Motorcycle design will likely be moved to the company’s facility in Rome, but it remains unclear if Honda will establish another European car design studio. Opened in 1992, the Offenbach facility has designed a number of concepts, including Honda’s OSM show car in 2008.
