Sales breaking over 10 perecent in Europe is due in part by the Ford Fiesta.
Ford announced that their European operations hit a milestone when they broke the 10 percent market share barrier since September, 2001. This was due to a high demand for the popular Ford Fiesta.
“Traditionally we expect Ford to have a good month in September given the surge of new car sales in the U.K. due to the registration plate change. But September 2009 has surpassed expectations,” said Ingvar Sviggum, Ford of Europe’s vice president for marketing, sales and service.
Ford sold 152,600 new vehicles in 19 countries, which accounted for 10.1 percent of the European market. That’s a 12.3 percent increase in vehicle sales which improved their shares bu 0.8 percent over September, 2008 figures.
The Ford Fiesta had a great month in September with 51,400 units sold.
