Chevrolet Camaro Z28
When General Motors went bankrupt, many performance models within their many brand names went on the back burner. Now there seems to be one that will be brought back and looks to be made available as early as 2010: the Chevrolet Camaro Z28.
Currently in the final stages of development, it has been confirmed by Ed Welburn, GM’s design chief, that the Z28 is headed to production. Welburn says all body work for the Z28 is finished, including a revised hood to conceal the taller supercharged engine. Final work on the car’s drivetrain is being completed now.
Although no specific details were given, the Z28 will most likely be powered by the same supercharged 6.2L V8 engine found in the Cadillac CTS-V, which produces 556hp. Six-speed manual and automatic gearboxes are expected to be offered as well.
The Z28 model isn’t expected to surface until at least late 2010.
