Audi e-Tron Concept
Audi recently announced that a version of the Audi e-Tron Concept will be headed to production under the rumored R4 nameplate. In addition to the all-electric version, it will also come in a few gas models.
A model that Audi said is one higher than the popular TT in the automaker’s sports car line, it will use it’s all-new design to compete against vehicles like the Porsche Cayman and Boxster. It will come as a coupe or a roadster.
The models hierarchy will be going as follows:
The all-electric version of the R4 will be the top model, complete with 4 motors (one for each wheel) that produce 300hp at over 3,000lb-ft. of torque. It will go from 0-60 in less than 5 seconds with a top speed of 140mph. All that, and has a excellent range of 150 miles.
Below the electric version if the gas engine version. Although it is not sure which engine will be in it, but it’s rumored that the TT-RS turbocharged 5 cylinder engine that produces 335hp might be used.
Expect the electric version of the R4 to hit showrooms by 2012, with the gas model to follow.
