Audi e-Tron Concept
About 2 weeks ago we wrote and article about a electric version of the Audi R8. Today, Audi broke news at the Frankfurt Car Show when they revealed their revolutionary vehicle, the Audi e-Tron, which is an all electric car has the body appearance of the R8.
Audi said there are several advantages of an high performance electric vehicle. They reduce the dependence on the economy for oil is one of the biggest factors. They produce no exhaust which is environmentally safe. Audi also said that electric engines are by far more efficient than the combustion engine and there are less moving parts which means it’s easier on consumers wallets. The power in electric vehicles are great as well, since they give you instant power when you hit the throttle.
Audi did mention that they still have a lot of work to do in order to get their electric cars up to a certain standard before they will go on production. The biggest challenge appears to be the battery efficiency. The more performance you want out of an electric engine, the more battery consumption will be used. Therefore, the company will need to look at energy regeneration options and possibly larger batteries.
Audi said that they are taking a different approach to these disadvantages, which includes a specific vehicle package, a lightweight construction concept, and an optimal configuration of all components for the electric drive.
